Ayatollah Taskhiri, pioneer of reconciliation between Shia, Sunni

Head of Pakistan’s Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen has expressed regret over loss of prominent Shia cleric Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri praising the late scholar for reconciling Shia and Sunni Muslims.

Allameh Sheikh Raja Nasir Abbas Jafari, secretary general of Pakistan’s Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen has expressed sympathy with the Supreme Leader of Islamic Republic over the recent passing of Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri and paying tribute to a scholar who spent his entire life to promotion of Islam and confrontation with Takfir (excommunication), reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
Pakistani cleric in his message praised late Ayatollah Taskhiri for endeavors to produce Islamic contents, teaching Islamic courses and training capable scholars.
 
“He was among Muslim figures that reconciled Shia and Sunni and confronted Takfiri ideologies” wrote Pakistan’s Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen secretary general.
 
He offered condolences with the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and the bereaved family of the late cleric.
 
Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri was the former secretary general of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought and spent his entire life for promoting Islamic teachings and Muslim unity across the world of Islam.
 
He passed away due to heart disease in a hospital in Tehran on Tuesday.
