Archbishop of Armenians in Iran expresses sympathy over demise of Ayatollah Taskhiri

Archbishop of Armenians in Tehran, Sebouh Sarkissian, has offered condolences following the passing of top Shia cleric, Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri and hailed the late Muslim scholar for building friendly ties with the Christian community in different countries.

The Christian leader offered his condolences with the Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution and family of the late Muslim scholar in a condolence message released on Tuesday following the demise of Ayatollah Taskhiri due to heart disease, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He lauded the advisor of Supreme Leader in Muslim world affairs for valuable contributions in line with convergence between religions and different denominations in Iran.
 
“This convergence and understanding has led to an intimate relation with the Armenian Christians in Iran and also an active participation in the international conventions in Lebanon, Geneva, Qatar and other countries” wrote the archbishop in his message.
 
Archbishop Sarkissian referred to three decades of intimate friendship with late Ayatollah Taskhiri and offered deepest condolences with the bereaved family of the former secretary general of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought.
 
Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri had served in different political and religious positions in more than five decades of activities.
 
He was a member of Iran’s Assembly of Experts and former Member of Parliament.
 
Ayatollah Taskhiri was particularly praised due to his proximity activities and endeavors to build close ties between Shia and Sunni Muslims across the globe.
