Ministry of Awqaf (endowments) in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture has published the new book “Plants in Holy Qur’an” in line with expanding Qur’anic knowledge among the people, particularly the younger generation, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

Egyptian author, Najla Allam, has brough interesting anecdotes on some plants mentioned in holy Qur’an.

In the introduction of the book, Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa, Egypt’s minister of religious endowments, has called agriculture as a key foundation based on which the civilizations were established.

He alluded to the verse 99 of Sura Al-An’am which reads: “And He is the One Who sends down rain from the sky—causing all kinds of plants to grow—producing green stalks from which We bring forth clustered grain. And from palm trees come clusters of dates hanging within reach. ˹There are˺ also gardens of grapevines, olives, and pomegranates, similar ˹in shape˺ but dissimilar ˹in taste˺. Look at their fruit as it yields and ripens! Indeed, in these are signs for people who believe.”
Top Egyptian official and author has called on the readers to contemplate the variety of plants as created by the Almighty God from the same soil and water though their flavors, size and color differ.
