Holy city of Karbala ready to welcome millions of pilgrims for Sha’ban celebrations

The holy city of Karbala has prepared to welcome eleven million pilgrims ahead of the celebrations to mark the birth anniversary of Imam Mahdi (AS), twelfth Shia Imam and grandson of Prophet Mohammad on Tuesday.

Karbala municipality has planned special security, sanitary and entertainment programs as it expects millions of pilgrims arriving for landmark Shia ceremonies celebrating the birth anniversary of Imam Mahdi (AS), reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
Ehsan al-Asadi, executive of the media at Karbala municipality said,” Security teams from the Iraqi Army and police forces have arrayed at the entrances and three roads to fulfill the security of the pilgrims.”
 
More than 2,000 staffs have been called for mechanical and manual cleaning of the streets across the holy city.
 
Public transportation has increased the vehicles to 5,000 and special routes have been allocated for transporting millions of pilgrims arriving from across Iraq and foreign countries.
 
A new surgical center has opened and 86 ambulances and seven state hospitals are ready to meet the medical issues of the pilgrims.
 
Sha’ban is the eighth month of the Islamic calendar when Shia Muslims especially commemorate the birth anniversary of Imam Mahdi (AS).
 
Imam Mahdi is the last and twelfth Shia Imam who is known to be the last savior of the world.
