ICRC-Iran exchange views on Afghan refugees, Yemen, Syria

8 May is World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day—a global day to celebrate the uniqueness and unity of our International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
"Robert Mardini", Director General of the International Committee of the Red Cross, on Monday, in describing his talks with the officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran, said: "The situation in Afghanistan has been one of the most important topics of discussion with Iranian officials, given the recent developments in the country in August with the change of government."
"The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) discussed ways with the Iranian Red Crescent to provide vital health services to Afghan refugees and migrants", Mardini said.
The director general of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) also discussed the situation in Yemen and Syria and the effects of war and violence, as well as climate change, with Iranian officials.
The Director-General of the International Committee of the Red Cross, referring to Iran's generous treatment of asylum seekers, added: "The development of international humanitarian law, cooperation in organizing Afghan refugees and countering COVID-19 are among the areas of cooperation of the International Committee of the Red Cross with Iran."
