People across Iran have held march to mark Arba’een which marks the 40th day after martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) and his 72 companions in the Battle of Karbala.

More than 33,000 Arba’een pilgrims have crossed Iran’s Chazzabeh border since the official opening of the crossing in mid-August.

The protesters chanted slogans and waved flags of Palestine and banners affirming the right of the Palestinian people to freedom, independence and return of the refugees, while nationalist songs celebrating the Palestinian freedom fighters were played.

The protesters waved Palestinian flags and banners calling for Abu Hmeid’s immediate release due to his critical health condition, exacerbated by the Israeli policy of medical negligence.
