Lebanon denies accord on water balance with Israel

A Lebanese official has ruled out a report that Beirut has given a green light to Israel to review water balance.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Adnan Mansour denied that Lebanon has agreed to examine the water balance with the Israeli enemy by a tripartite committee.

The Israeli Haaretz newspaper quoted about the Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon, noting that this issue is not accurate and that the process still at the beginning of the road, stressing that the procedures to be followed by Lebanon is not yet determined . 

Minister Mansour on the subject of actions that Lebanon should be taken in order to put the coordinates that define the maritime area of ​​Lebanon once and for all pointed to the formation of technical committees and coordination with relevant ministries concerned and experts in public international law and in the maritime law in order to put the coordinates of the exclusive economic zone belonging to Lebanon. 

He explained that he will be issuing decrees of the Council of Ministers later dealing with these coordinates and other things related to the ministries concerned, pointing out that there will be a joint work in order to determine the coordinates and later on matters dealing with operations and exploration in the region belonging to Lebanon. 

The minister said that during the Lebanon's presidency of the UN Security Council in the coming September, the first priority will be to vote in favor of a Palestinian state with Arab and other countries in the world, after that the Head of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, goes to New York to declare this issue.
