The prayer leader of Sunni community in Western Azerbaijan highlighted the capacities of Hajj to convene Muslims in a unified body.

Mamusta Seyyed Mostafa Khatami, senior cleric from Oshnaviyeh County, in an interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) said one cannot differentiate Shias from Sunnis during Hajj pilgrimage as unity is in its utmost manifestation during the annual Islamic pilgrimage.
 
He said,” We find followers of all Islamic denominations united in wearing the same costume, performing the same ritual and manifest solidarity of the Muslim nation.”
 
He noted,” In fact compassion, unision, uniformity and other aspects of solidarity are illustrated in every moment of Hajj time.”
 
The senior Iranian scholar said the rituals symbolic of avoiding Satan convey the message for the Islamic nation to confront those following the path of evil, the US and Israel, and set fight against the current evil powers among their duties.”
 
Muslims from across the globe have convened in the holy city of Mecca ahead of the Hajj pilgrimage following two years of COVID-related restrictions imposed on the annual Islamic ritual.
