Iran urges UN to address humanitarian situation in Syria

Iran’s deputy permanent representative to the UN has called on the organization for comprehensive approach to address the humanitarian and economic situation in Syria.

Speaking at the United Nations Security Council meeting on “The situation in the Middle East: (Syria)”, Zahra Ershadi said, " This approach should encompass several key elements, including securing sufficient funding, ensuring impartial distribution of aid, and removing unilateral sanctions.”

She stressed that the approach would benefit the people in saving their lives, laying the foundation for the restoration of the infrastructure in the country and also restoration of the Syrian economy.

Iranian diplomat also highlighted necessity of prioritizing early recovery projects in order to address the dire demands of all Syrians affected in the ongoing crisis in the country.

Ershadi expressed Iran’s appreciation to the Syrian government for its commitment to facilitating delivery of the UN relief aids for the people in crisis-affected areas.

Iran’s deputy permanent representative to the UN also hailed the recent constructive developments in Syria’s diplomatic relations in the region and internationally.
 
She called the return of Syria to the Arab League and the resumption of relations with the other Arab states as a significant step in boosting security and stability in Syria.
