Funeral for Assyrian war-veteran of Iran-Iraq war held

People in the capital Tehran, top army commanders and Archbishop of Tehran Catholic Church attended the massive funeral held for the Assyrian veteran of Iraq- imposed war on Friday.

Martyr Johny Bet Ushana, a soldier of 55th Airborne Unit of the Iranian Army was martyred while defending the country's borders in the year 1984 in Badr military operation.

Army Commander Brigadier General Nemati said in the commemoration service, "The soldiers have always been the pioneers of defending the border of our motherland, Iran."

He added that if today the Islamic Republic of Iran is standing tall at all international scenes and has lots to say, is due to the altruist braveries of the martyrs and the war-disabled veterans of the Sacred Defense years (against the invading Iraqi army of Saddam).

"Today, too, the funeral procession of this soldier of the army shows the solidarity and unity among the entire Iranian ethnic groups and religious minorities," he added.

The army commander said that the hand of the brave soldiers of the IRI Army are on the triggers of their guns all over the Islamic Republic of Iran borders and this highly important responsibility is shouldered by dedication of lives in defense of the country's borders.

Brigadier General Fallah said that Aarty Johny Bet Ushana's responsibility in the army was dispatching and transferring the messages of the commanders, and that esteemed martyr was serving at 55 Airborne Unit of Shiraz since the year 1983 as a soldier, as a messenger of the commanders' messages and had attended the warfronts 17 times before his martyrdom.
