The sovereign fund which will save and accumulate the gas fortune revenues can never be plundered, according to President Aoun, who called on the government and the parliament to carry out their duties in this regard.

In an interview with LBCI, President Aoun maintained that the border demarcation does not stipulate any kind of agreements with the Israeli enemy, adding that stability results from the estimation of the national interest.

Regarding the demarcation of the northern maritime border demarcation with Syria, President Aoun said that President Bashar Al-Assad expressed positivity, adding that the technical teams from the two states will meet later.

President Aoun indicated that the Syrian authorities have welcomed the return of the refugees from Lebanon, highlighting the resumption of the return process.

The six-year term of President Aoun will end on Monday, October 31, 2022, amid fears of a presidential vacuum that worsens the repercussions of PM-designate Najib Mikati’s failure to form a new government.

President Aoun noted that he would approve a governmental lineup proposed by Mikati only when it is balanced.

Rejecting any foreign intervention in the presidential elections, President Aoun added the Free Patriotic Movement, led by MP Gebran Bassil, has identified the specifications of the candidate it prefers to support.
