Iran’s envoy, Imam Reza shrine’s executives mull opportunities in Africa

Iranian ambassador to Senegal and officials at the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) have discussed the opportunities for expansion of relations with West African countries, naming Senegal.

Mohammad Reza Dehshiri, Iran’s ambassador to Dakar attended a scientific meeting held by Imam Reza holy shrine’s Scientific and Cultural Foundation to examine opportunities to expand relations with African states particularly with Senegal.

Drawing attention of holy shrine’s managers to the economic capacities of Senegal, Dehshiri said: “Since obtaining its full independence in 1960s, Republic of Senegal has been among most politically stable countries in Africa. This great privilege creates a sense of calmness for the foreign investors”.

He added: “With respect to various economic capabilities of Productivity Foundation of Imam Reza Holy Shrine, 17-million-strong market of Senegal is a great opportunity for expanding bilateral economic ties between the two countries”. 

Iranian top diplomat stated: “Some 95 percent Muslims living in Senegal is a very good commonality which makes Iran’s activities easier there”.

Dehshiri further noted: “Senegalese people whose country is internationally known as gate to West Africa love Ahl al-Bayt (AS) and they are among lovers of Imam Khomeini’s (RA) school of thought as well”.

Ambassador of Iran to Senegal also stressed: “Some international exhibitions are going to be held in upcoming month in which different affiliations of Imam Reza shrine can participate and introduce their cultural, religious, and economic services”.  

Dehshiri also referred to membership of six million Senegalese people in Quran schools with whom Imam Reza shrine’s cultural and religious officials particularly Holy Quran Center can kick off interactions. 

The interactive meeting was continued by comments of some managers of the holy shrine’s officers including manager of Office for Foreign Pilgrims’ Affairs, deputy of Productivity Foundation of Imam Reza holy shrine, and deputy for international affairs of Scientific and Cultural Foundation.
