High-ranking Nigerian trade delegation on way to visit Iran

It is scheduled to meet top Iranian officials, including the First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber, the Trade Minister Reza Fatemi-Amin and the Speaker of Parliament Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf.
Facilitating trade exchanges between Iran and Nigeria, boosting bilateral trade and concluding trade agreements will top the agenda of the negotiations in Tehran.
During the visit, the Nigerian trade delegation will have face-to-face meetings with Iranian businessmen to discuss ways to tackle obstacles impeding business between the two countries private sectors.
Also, at the end of the visit, several documents and memorandums of cooperation will be signed between Iran and Nigeria by the Iranian Trade Minister Reza Fatemi-Amin, and his Nigerian counterpart Geoffrey Onyeama.
It should be noted that this trip comes in line with Iran’s plan to develop trade ties with African countries. The agreements are expected to dramatically increase bilateral trade between Iran and Nigeria within a short period of time.
Nigeria is one of Iran’s four top trading partners in Africa. Earlier, the Director-General of the Arab-African Office of the Trade Development Organization of Iran underscored the need to increase efforts to expand exports to Nigeria in the post-COVID situation.
“The value of Iran’s exports to Nigeria in the first ten months of the year 1400 (Persian calendar year which ended on March 20) was close to $86 million, which shows a 644% growth compared to the same period last year,” Farzad Piltan noted.
