Iran welcomes Yemeni peace initiative

Saeed Khatibzadeh, the spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, welcomed the peace initiative of the President of the Supreme Council of Yemen and has said that the plan presented by Sanaa in good faith contains a strong message of determination to end the war, lift the oppressive siege and resolve and it is the political season of the Yemeni crisis, and if it interacts seriously and positively with it, it can provide a suitable platform for ending the current war.

Khatibzadeh has expressed hope that as the holy month of Ramadan approaches, by prioritizing humanitarian issues and advancing the exchange of prisoners, we will see an end to the conflict and national reconciliation in Yemen.

Saudi Arabia, with the support of the United States, the United Arab Emirates and several other countries, has launched a military invasion of Yemen and a land, sea and air siege since March 2015.

The outbreak of war by Saudi Arabia and its allies in Yemen has so far killed and injured hundreds of thousands of Yemenis and displaced 4 million.

Despite the fact that seven years have passed since the beginning of this all-out aggression, the Yemeni army and popular committees, while defending their nation, have managed to inflict heavy blows on the aggressor coalition and its allies, targeting Saudi and Emirati aggressors deep inside the two countries. Despite their complete siege, they expanded their weapons capabilities, especially missiles and drones, by relying on internal power.
