Iran summons Russian ambassador over tweeting Tehran conference picture
Russian ambassador Lavan Dzhagaryan was summoned by Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Thursday after release of a a picture on Twitter showing him and his British counterpart on the same veranda that the strategic meeting of 1943 meeting between former US, British and Soviet leaders was held following the occupation of Iran by allied powers.

Russian ambassador in this meeting explained that there was no anti-Iran approach behind publication of the photo stressing the deep and strategic ties between the Islamic Republic and Russia.

The so-called image of “Big Three” is on the dark record of the Iranian nation as it reminds the occupation of their country by allied powers during the World War II.

The caption of the picture read, ”Ambassador Levan Dzhagaryan’s meeting with the new head of the Flag of United Kingdom British diplomatic mission in Iran Simon Shercliff in the historical stair where the 1943 Tehran conference was held.

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif immediately reacted to the tweet as “extremely inappropriate” and noted,” Need I remind all that Aug. 2021 is neither Aug. 1941 nor Dec. 1943.”
