Former prime minister of Iraq has hailed Iran as the major axis of Islamic unity and resistance in the region.

Iraq's former prime minister, Nouri al-Maliki, met with Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari, Secretary General of Iran's World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought warning of plots which pursue division in the world of Islam and hailed Iran as the key axis of Islamic unity and resistance in the entire region, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He referred to supports for injecting Daesh terrorists into western Iraqi provinces in 2014 as one of the plots to confront the government and preventing sovereignty and independence of the Arab country.
 
Secretary General of Islamic Dawa Party in Iraq slammed Saudi Arabia over avarice to introduce itself as the religious, political, security and financial leader in the entire region while the Islamic Republic of Iran is the key axis of resistance and Islamic solidarity in the entire region.
 
Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari in this meeting elaborated his five-step proposal for achieving unified Islamic nation and union of Muslim countries.
 
He noted that safeguarding the honor of Muslims and Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) as a mission for Muslim scholars and called on all Muslims to take steps in line with Islamic unity and also battling the extremists.
 
Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought visited former Prime Minister, Nouri al- Maliki in part of his visit to the Arab country.
