Pakistani FM expresses concern over Islamophobia

Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has expressed concern over Islamophobia in western countries stressing that he will bring up the issue in the next meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) foreign ministers.

Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi announced his mission to highlight the country’s clear stance regarding Islamophobia in the 47th session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers to be held in Niger, Taqrib News Agency has quoted Pakistani state radio as reporting.
 
In a video message issued by the top diplomat Shah Mahmood Qureshi called the meeting of OIC foreign minister in the Niger capital, Niamey, as a proper opportunity for discussing the challenges ahead of the Islamic nation including Islamophobic campaigns in western countries.
 
Pakistani FM stressed the country’s clear stance regarding the issue and noted,” Pakistan demands strengthening a unified front against Islamophobic approaches and western extremism.”
 
Pakistan has reportedly planned to propose resolutions against the new wave of Islamophobia.
 
He added,” Pakistan hopes that the upcoming meeting will be an opportunity for common negotiations of the OIC member states to exchange views on other important issues in the world of Islam including Palestine and Kashmir.”

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has scheduled the 47th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers in the capital of the Republic of Niger, Niamey, on 27 and 28 November 2020, on the theme “United against Terrorism for Peace and Development.”

The OIC foreign ministers will also discuss, over two days, political, humanitarian, economic, social and cultural and other issues related to science and technology, the media and the progress made in the implementation of the “OIC-2025: Plan of Action” document.
