Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his US counterpart John Kerry could be possible candidates for the 2016 Nobel Peace Prize over Iran's nuclear accord, a Swedish peace institute director says.

Tariq Rauf, the director of the Disarmament and Non-Proliferation Program at Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) made the remarks following the conclusion of nuclear talks between the Islamic Republic and six world powers on Tuesday.

Iran and the P5+1 group of countries concluded their talks on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which will put limits on Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for the removal of sanctions against the country.

Rauf was formerly the head of Verification and Security Policy at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) from 2002 to 2011.
