'Israel aims at Al-Aqsa Mosque's identity': political analyst

“Al-Aqsa Mosque has a special religious and historical status among Muslims,” said the analyst in Palestinian affairs.

The political analyst, Ahmad Reza Roohollah Zad in an exclusive interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) denounced Israeli regime forces for violating the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East al-Quds (Jerusalem), censuring international communities and some Arab countries for  their silence against the Zionist plan and their willful attempt to divide the mosque between Jews and Muslims.

The political commentator went on to underscore, “The al-Aqsa Mosque was the first-holiest site of Muslims (now it is Islam’s third-holiest site after Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia) and enjoys a special place among them.”

“Beit-ol-Moqaddas is indeed an Islamic symbol and identity and given the Quran verses and religious narrations, many Islam Prophet’s companions were laid to rest in this site,” pointed out Roohollah Zad.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he beckoned to plan proposed by Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the mosque stressing they want to divide the mosque between Jews and Muslims. They want to have days for Muslims and days for Jews to pray in al-Aqsa Mosque.

Many of the Jewish community believe that this mosque supposed to be a synagogue for the Jewish community not for the Muslim community and this is why they have stormed the holy place many times.

With this connection, Roohollah Zad noted, “the regime of Zionism has a long term scheme, and to this end it has organized more than 18 centers for demolishing Al-Aqsa Mosqe and replace it with a temple.”

The political analyst called for immediate intervention by the international community, Islamic countries and centers in order to halt the Zionist entity’s unjustified violations and provocations.

“The Islamic organizations, Islamic governments and most of all Muslims in the region and even those who live out should stand against such scheme siding with Palestinians and removing the threats to this mosque and defenseless people,” said the political analyst.

The al-Aqsa Mosque is Islam’s third-holiest site after Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia. The compound is also holy to the Jews, given that Israeli regime is considering replacing the al-Aqsa Mosque in al-Quds (Jerusalem) with a temple.

Palestinians have denounced the plan as desecration. They say it is part of the Israeli regime’s ongoing attempts to distort the Arab and Islamic history. Palestinians argue that al-Quds is the capital of a future Palestinian independent state, and that its heritage should remain intact.
