Ebrahim Raisi met with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on Wednesday during his visit to Turkmenistan, and said that one of the most important benefits of holding regional meetings is meeting with officials of neighboring countries and creating more understanding between them.
During a meeting with Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov here on Friday, Javad Owji said: "The development of energy relations between the two countries will pave the way for the development of relations in other areas as well. On the other hand, Iran is ready to increase gas swap between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan."
Referring to the historical relations between the two countries, the President said, "Apart from being neighbours, Iran and Azerbaijan share the same culture and have kinship relations. No factor should be allowed to damage the close relations between the two countries."
On Tuesday, the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mikhail Jabbarov met with the Deputy Minister of Economic Diplomacy of Iran, Mehdi Safari, in Baku to discuss the latest state of bilateral economic and trade relations.
Armenia and Azerbaijan waged a brief but devastating war over the land in the fall of 2020. It ended with Baku gaining ground and Russia mediating a peace deal that saw Moscow dispatch peacekeepers to the region.
