Iftar is the meal served during the fasting month of Ramadan. Muslims observe one month of fasting during the ninth month in the Islamic lunar calendar abstaining from food and drink from dawn to dusk.
The fast is then broken in a meal usually eaten with family and friends. Sharing is an important part of the spirit in the fasting month of Ramadan.
