Millions of Muslims and non-Muslims visit the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) in the Iraqi holy city of Karbala every year. Imam Hussein (AS), third Shia Imam and grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) was martyred together with 72 of his companions fighting the tyrant ruler of the time Yazid ibn-Muawiyah in the Battle of Karbala back in 680 AD.
