Clerics sight moon to announce beginning of Ramadan in Iran (photo)

A group of clerics in the Iranian holy city of Qom gathered to sight the moon in order to announce the beginning of Ramadan. Ramadan is the ninth month in the Islamic lunar calendar when Muslims abstain from eating and drinking from dawn to dusk. Prayers, Qur'an recitation and charity works are recommended during the month.
