Friday prayer leader of Beirut says several people find Islamic unity a threat to their interests and endeavor in all ways to undermine solidarity in the world of Islam.

Sayyed Ali Fadhlullah, in his speech addressing the general assembly of the 37th Islamic Unity Conference warned of the hostile fronts that endeavor to expand the political disputes to religious controversies, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He said God Almighty and the prophet of Islam recommended Muslims to maintain solidarity and said Islamic nation should set unity an objective in their life.
 
Sayyed Ali Fadhlullah stressed,” We are in pursuit of peace and stability among our countries” and added,” We hope to expand unity among Muslims.”
 
Still in another part of his speech warned,” Desecration of sanctities belonging to other denominations will provoke followers of other religions.”
Top scholar addressed the participants to the general assembly of the 37th International Islamic Unity Conference held on Monday morning.
 
More than 230 Shia and Sunni scholars, religious figures and representatives from different Islamic countries are attending this edition of the annual Islamic Unity Conference.
 
More than 260 Shia and Sunni scholars from across the globe also participated the online meetings of event held on 28-30 September.
