Sheikh “Hossein Khoshnav”, Iraqi religious scholar in his speech at the webinar of 37th International Islamic Unity Conference, noted that the Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH) create unity and brotherhood between Muslims, reported Taghrib News Agency (TNA).

“Existence of such a unity and solidarity is something that has been commanded by the almighty God. The almighty God says that all believers and pious people are brothers”, he said.

He pointed out that Allah and the Holy Prophet (PBUH) have emphasized on the necessity of unity among Muslims and added: “we should have faith in the truth of what has been mentioned in the Holy Quran. Muslim scholars and thinkers should come to their senses and highlight the importance of this issue.”

“They are required to promote this culture. They should look at the Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH) as a model and example for their own lives”, the Iraqi religious scholar continued.

“Some Islamic concepts have been wrongly interpreted and propagated. We should correct them and explain them to the ordinary people based on accurate and right interpretations”, he said.

Khoshnav mentioned some issues that create differences among Muslims and said: “According to Shafei Sunni jurisprudence, holding hands during prayers makes our prayers look more beautiful; however, according to Imam Malik interpretation, this act is not acceptable.”

“These minor issues should not cause division among Muslims. In fact, we have many basic concepts and principles in common. We must follow these commonalities and highlight them”, he added.

“The almighty God will reprimand us based on our abidance by these basic concepts and principles. Unfortunately, some religious leaders utter some statements that are against the unity in the Islamic world. Such statements are very dangerous and have negative and destructive consequences for the society”, Sheikh Hossein Khoshnav concluded.
