A senior Iranian cleric has called on the Islamic governments, scholars and scientific figures to introduce a single charter which defines solidarity of the Islamic nation in different fields.
Cleric calls for single charter defined on Islamic unity
Ayatollah Alireza A’rafi, head of the Iranian seminaries, in his remarks at the first webinar of the 37th Islamic Unity Conference said a single charter among all Islamic states should define common principles in different scientific, political, cultural, social, economic and media fields, serving as the basis for the great convergence in the world of Islam, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

He hailed the annual Islamic Unity Conference a proof for Iran’s adherence to the lofty values of the Islamic unity.

The cleric noted that the Islamic solidarity should be looked both in the fundamental level of integrity and also in operational layers towards the objective.
He said,” The first level, which consists of the epistemological layers includes three basic axes to be founded and boosted by scholars.”
According to the cleric the second layer consists of the Islamic jurisprudence that lead the entire nation towards Islamic cohesion.
Alireza A’rafi also counted the Islamic ethics as the third basis and said,” Undoubtedly, the triangle of Islamic unity fundamentals, i.e., philosophy, jurisprudence and morals guarantee a united Ummah and will serve as bases of Ummah moving towards a unique and uniform civilization.”

Top Iranian cleric counted the religious, national, ethnic, racial, linguistic and cultural elements as important features that play a role in identity of Muslims and enumerated six obstacles to defining a single identity for all Muslims as follows:
1-Feeling that such single identity is problematic
2- Lack of confidence in collective capacities of Islamic nation
3- Lack of a road map for generating new intellectual, epistemological, economic, political and social power
4- Lack of a mechanism to solve disputes in the world of Islam
5- Promotion of the extremist ideologies going against unity
6- Enemies like Israel lying in heart of the world of Islam plotting to divide Muslims

Head of the Iranian seminaries stressed importance of strengthening philosophical, jurisprudential and moral foundations of unity in the epistemological and fundamental level.

Hujjat-ul-Islam A’rafi expressed his views in a speech at the online meeting of religious figures and elites for the 37th Islamic Unity Conference.

Held by Iran’s World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, Muslim scholars and religious figures from across the globe exchanged views on the issues challenging the world of Islam in the 37th Islamic Unity Conference (IUC). Participants also discussed the theme of this meeting “Islamic Cooperation to Achieve Common Values.” The event is the climax of the Islamic Unity Week that marks the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
