“Respect, necessity for Islamic version of freedom of expression”, Sunni cleric

Sheikh Mohammad Eidi, senior Sunni scholar from Tanzania highlighted importance of freedom of expression in Islam which clearly goes against the view by leader of a European country.

Top Sunni scholar called Islam as a religion which stresses freedom of expression for all and that it calls on people to exchange views and talk based on rationality, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He called religion as a straight path which is committed to all laws and said,” Islam calls all people to rational negotiations and stresses freedom of expression as far as the people maintain mutual respect.”
 
Tanzanian cleric in this webinar on “Freedom of Expression in view of Prophet Mohammad” referred to his visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran as a country which belongs to all Islamic denominations.
 
He hailed the coexistence of Shia and Sunni Muslims in Iran and also freedom of the Sunni Muslims to practice religious rituals in their mosques.
 
Sheikh Hamid Jalala, manager of Imam Sadiq (AS) seminary in this webinar condemned the sacrilegious comments made by French President Emanuel Macron and noted that Muslims, based on teachings of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) can live with other societies without any problems.
 
Sheikh Meraj Saloum criticized French President Emanuel Macron over his supportive stance of a sacrilegious cartoon by satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo  and expressed regret over neutral stance of some Muslims in regards to the derogatory cartoon.
