In a meeting between the staff members of Afghan Radio and Ayatollah Mohammad Asif Muhseni, grand Shia cleric, Afghan cleric slammed any measure which might derail the unity between two main Islamic denominations, Shia and Sunni, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA). 

A pioneer in boosting the unity between Shia and Sunni, Ayatollah Mohammad Asif Muhseni announced the fraternity between Shia and Sunni as a need and "a conduit to meet the needs of the Afghan people."

"Some efforts to separate Shia and Sunni is planned and sponsored outside the country and Muslim people of Afghanistan have to be alert against such plans," the top Afghan cleric, said. 

Hujjatul Islam Seyyed Issa Husseini Mazari, manager of Afghan Radio hailed the unifying efforts of Ayatollah Mohseni and stressed that disunity between Shia and Sunni is to the benefit of none of these faiths. 

Born in the Afghan city of Kandahar, grand Ayatollah Mohammad Asif Muhsini is a twelver Shia jurisprudent and a founder of the Islamic Movement of Afghanistan with remarkable efforts in maintaining unity of Shia and Sunni.
