UN official says 47 kids affected by school demolition order

20 Jan 2023 - 20:32

The UN Humanitarian Coordinator in the occupied Palestinian territory, Lynn Hastings, expressed Thursday her worries over an Israeli High Court’s ruling ordering the demolition of a donor funded school in Khashm al-Karm village, south of Hebron.

“The UN calls on the Government of Israel to fulfil its international obligations to ensure Palestinians can have safe access to education,” Hastings tweeted.

sraeli occupation authorities Thursday forced a Palestinian owner to self-demolish his own house in the old city of occupied Jerusalem, citing unpermitted construction as a pretext.
Witnesses told WAFA that Mahran Disi, the owner, demolished his privately-owned house to avoid paying exorbitant fees to the Israeli municipality in the event that its crews carried out the demolition on their own.
Using the pretext of building without a permit, which is rarely granted to Palestinians in the occupied city, the Israeli municipality has demolished or forced Palestinians to demolish hundreds of Palestinian-owned houses as part of a policy aimed to restrict Palestinian expansion in occupied Jerusalem.
