Saudi Arabia lifts ban on Hajj pilgrimage for women without male guardian

Saudi Arabian Minister of Hajj and Umrah announced on its tweeter account that women without mahram (blood relatives) can register for the annual pilgrimage.


Minister of Hajj and Umrah announced on its Twitter account that Saudi nationals in the country can register for Hajj 1444 adding that single women are not required to be escorted by mahram blood relative male guardians, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
The ministry added that the requirement for women to be accompanied by a male relative has totally been removed from Hajj registration priorities.
 
According to the announcement by Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, the lowest age admitted to Hajj 2023 is 12 prioritizing those performing the pilgrimage for the first time.
 
Hajj is the biggest Islamic pilgrimage and Muslims who are physically and financially capable should perform the ritual once in their lifetime.
