23 May 2022 - 16:15

On the eve of the Iranian President's state visit to Oman, the Iranian Minister of Petroleum Javad Owji met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman in Muscat.

During his visit to Muscat, the Minister of Petroleum also met with the head of the Oman Investment Authority.
He also had a meeting with the Omani Minister of Energy and Minerals Mohammed bin Hamad Al-Rumhi.
Owji announced an agreement between Iran and Oman to form a technical committee for the joint development of Hengam offshore oilfield.

“In talks with Omani officials, including Omani Minister of Energy and Minerals Mohammed bin Hamad Al-Rumhi, agreements were reached on cooperation on various economic fields, especially the energy sector," Owji told Shana.
He added: "As the first highlight of the agreements, it was agreed to form a joint technical committee to develop the next phases of the Hengam oilfield, as the only field shared by the two countries, in an integrated manner.”
The Minister of Petroleum stated that integrated production, which is unprecedented in the region, in contrast to competitive development, causes the joint field reservoir not to be damaged, and the withdrawal from the reservoir will take place safely, and the two countries will benefit most from field development. “The second highlight of the agreements concerns export of technical engineering services.”
Owji stated: "Considering the oil and gas resources of Oman, as well as the capability of Iranian contractors and manufacturers, there is a very good potential and capacity for exporting Iran's technical engineering services in the oil and gas to this country, and it was agreed to tap the capabilities of Iranian companies in the fields upstream and downstream sectors of oil and gas industries, refineries, petro-refineries and gas facilities.”
He said that in this regard, at the invitation of the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum, a high-level technical delegation from Oman will soon travel to Iran to visit its oil and gas facilities and get acquainted with the capabilities of manufacturers, contractors, and knowledge-based companies. Furthermore, trade and export of petrochemicals and petroleum products was the third highlight of the agreements which are discussed during the meeting and good agreements were struck about them.”
Javad Owji left Tehran for Oman on Friday morning (May 20) to discuss with his Omani counterpart the development of cooperation between Iran and Oman in various energy sectors and joint projects.
His visit to Oman is aimed to develop the 13th administration’s energy diplomacy and to take firm and major steps in continuation of his previous trips in the past few months.
A 50-strong delegation of Iranian businessmen and economic figures visited Oman last week in order to set the ground for the expansion of economic and trade relations between Iran and Oman.
President Ebrahim Raisi also arrived in, Muscat hours ago at the official invitation of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, in line with the continuation of the administration’s neighborhood diplomacy and expansion of economic, political, and cultural interactions.
