Top cleric addresses Indian premier:

History has proved any form of religious extremism is doomed to failure

Prominent Iranian scholar has addressed Indian premier denouncing the wave of violence against Muslim community in the country.

Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari, secretary general of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought has sent a letter to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi amid surge of violence against Muslims and rejected any form of religious extremism, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
In part of his message to Indian premier the cleric said,” The latest news over the fate of Indian Muslims has concerned pacifist people and those advocating human rights and Muslims across the globe.”
He referred to India as an old cradle of civilization tolerant to all religions and denominations and a part of the world with the most cultural, racial diversity proud of the peaceful coexistence among its people.
“Your excellency are the leader of Hindu nationalist as well as the heavy burden of premiership” the Iranian cleric addressed Narendra Modi and added,” Your second responsibility is more inclusive demanding you to protect the cultural diversity which also involves Muslim members.”
According to Hujjat-ul-Islam Shahriari India is composed of 70 per cent Hindu majority though the fact should not ignore or marginalize the rights of other religions, particularly Muslims, as India is home to third greatest Muslim population in the world.

Iranian cleric counted the right to live, accommodation and employment as the inalienable rights according to UN human rights charter and stressed concerns for the situation f Muslims in India which is twice as great of Iran’s population.
“We should not witness to issues tarnishing the image of India widely known as a cradle of peaceful coexistence for all religions” noted the secretary general of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought.
“History has proved any form of extremism is doomed to fail” wrote the cleric in his message and added,” To create legal limitations for other religions has primarily ended to resulted the other way and is doomed to failure in the long run.”
Hujjat-ul-Islam Shahriari highlighted the necessity of justice, equal rights and freedom for all citizens in a country introduced as democratic.
“We are witness to a minority of extremist Hindus committing crimes against Muslims, violating India’s constitution and damaging social security” wrote the Iranian scholar.
Hujjat-ul-Islam Shahriari concluded his letter urging Indian Prime Minister to take practical measures against anti-Muslims religious prejudices and compensate the violated rights of those affected in the recent violations.”
