The 645th annual death anniversary of Hazrat Mir Syed Ali Hamadani was observed with full religious devotion and solemnity across Kashmir on Saturday, with tens of thousands of devotees flocking to mosques and shrines for special prayers.
The main gathering took place at the Khanaqah-e-Mu’alla, the shrine of the 13th century Iranian saint and reformer in old Srinagar, where a hundred thousand people paid tribute to the figure credited with the massive spread of Islam in Kashmir.
Huge gathering immersed in hymns and prayers had held an all-night vigil at the shrine on Friday, and the holy relics of the saint were displayed to the worshippers after every obligatory namaz.
