Dozens of Palestinians injured in West Bank clashes

Clashes have broken out between Israeli troops and Palestinian protesters in the occupied West Bank amid boiling tensions over Tel Aviv’s attempts to Judaize the al-Aqsa Mosque.

According to reports, dozens of Palestinians were injured in clashes with Israeli forces, who fired tear gas to disperse the rock-throwing demonstrators in East al-Quds (Jerusalem) on Friday.

In a similar incident, Israeli forces used live rounds against the Palestinian protesters near the Qalandia checkpoint between Ramallah and al-Quds.

Meanwhile, several Palestinians were also shot with rubber-coated steel bullets fired by Israeli troops after scuffles broke out near the Ibrahimi Mosque in the southern West Bank city of al-Khalil (Hebron).

Earlier in the day, Israeli media said two Israeli men in their twenties sustained moderate wounds after allegedly being stabbed by Palestinians while walking to the Beit Orot seminary in the al-Tour neighborhood of East al-Quds.

A Palestinian woman was also slightly wounded after she was run over by an Israeli settler in the Shuafat neighborhood in East al-Quds.

Palestinians are extremely angry at Tel Aviv’s raids and restrictions, considering them as part of its plan to Judaize and desecrate the al-Aqsa Mosque in East al-Quds.

In October, the Israeli regime ordered a full closure of the al-Aqsa Mosque but later opened the holy site after widespread protests.

The al-Aqsa Mosque compound, located in the Israeli-occupied Old City of al-Quds, is a flashpoint holy Islamic site. The location of the compound, known to Jews as the Temple Mount, is the holiest site in Judaism. The mosque is Islam’s third-holiest after Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and Masjid al-Nabawi in Medina.

Over the past decades, Israel has tried to change the demographic makeup of al-Quds by constructing illegal settlements, destroying historical sites and expelling the local Palestinian population.
