Sunni mosques in south Iran dramatically increased

“Because of establishing the Islamic revolution, the number of mosques for Sunni people reached to five thousands in Sistan Baluchestan province in southeast Iran,” an official in charge of the coordination council of Islamic propaganda, Hojjatol Islam Abbas Daneshi said, according to Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

He said,” comparing the number of Mosques before the Islamic revolution, the number of Mosques in Zahedan, has been increased 10 times more over the past three decades.”

“Before the victory of the Islamic revolution, most Sunni students should have travel to outside of the country for continuing their education in the field of religion, but now students continue their education even at the highest level inside of the county” Hojjatol Islam said.

He pointed,” at this time the Friday prayers are held in three hundred spots of this province.”

“Sunni Islamic scholars can teach their religious issues without any limitation,” the cleric continued.

He underscored, “Iran can be perceived as the only country in the region where its people from different Islamic Schools of thought can teach and learn their own religious instructions and concepts without any limitation.”

Hojjatol Islam Abbas Daneshi added,” in many Islamic countries [outside Iran], scholars should deliver their sermons which have been written via the governmental agents and can not speak freely in the mosques.”
