Afghanistan election has isolated Taliban

Nozar Shafeei, Member of the National Security and Foreign Policy at Iran’s Parliament, in an exclusive interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) called Afghanistan a country in a process of transition which has experienced almost four decades of war.

He said the country is hopeful of warmongering policies to be replaced by peaceful solutions and that Afghan people expect for gradual return of peace to their country in the light of the new changes.

Iranian MP said,” It is with this hope that Afghan people have participated in the elections and the future president in this country is going to have tough responsibilities.”

He also related on the results of the election on regional policies of Afghanistan and noted,” All countries, particularly those in the same geographical region are in relation with each other. Naturally Afghanistan is in urgent need of peace because that will guarantee its promotion; therefore, Afghan government should provide peace and the neighboring countries also have to help the country to maintain stability and peace since that will be a great help to stability in other countries either.”

When asked on Afghan security forces providing peace before the election and the message that brought for Taliban he said,” Taliban, following the election, has noticed that diplomatic strategies and dialogue are the resolving solutions in Afghanistan because people are tired of military options and he who follows military approaches will not be welcomed by the people; therefore, the election seem to have isolated Taliban.”

Nozar Shafeei concluded that Taliban might try to reject the results of the election but the general movement of Afghanistan is towards a peaceful solution for the problems and political campaigns rather than military clashes.”
