Vice President Jahangiri was hospitalized at Shahid Rajaei cardiovascular center in northern Tehran late on Wednesday.

The vice president’s illness postponed his trip to the southeastern city of Kerman on the occasion of the ongoing National Government Week.

According to the latest reports, his condition is not serious and he can leave on Thursday.
During the visit, Rouhani was accompanied by his brother and special aide, Hossein Fereydoun, and talked to Health Minister Hassan Qazizadeh-Hashemi about Jahanigiri’s condition.

Also on Wednesday, the president held a meeting with Ghanaian Foreign Minister Hanna Tetteh, in which he spoke of more cooperation with the African country particularly in the private sector.

Rouhani further called for an expansion of cultural ties in an effort to battle terrorism in the region.
“If the Middle Eastern and African countries stand together, they can create an atmosphere, in which... there is no opportunity for the growth of violence and terror,” he noted.

Tetteh, for her part, called for attention to the “intellectual and cultural” aspects of the phenomenon, saying that Tehran and Accra need to take advantage of one another’s experience in regard to fighting terrorism.

She also referred to Nigeria-based Boko Haram Takfiri group, which has been wreaking havoc in Western Africa by committing atrocities and promoting terrorism.

The terrorists have already pledged allegiance to the Daesh Takfiri group, which is mainly operating inside Iraq and Syria.
