‘I'tikaf plays telling role in building society’: Ayatollah Araki

General Secretary of the World Forum for Proximity of the Islamic Schools of Thought, Ayatollah Mohsen Araki placed stressed on the prime importance of I'tikaf (seclusion in the mosque for worship) in building the Islamic Society, calling on Muslims to abide by the Islamic teachings and instructions in this regard, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
In his term, I'tikaf is an indicative of piety in the Islamic society; given that if a group of people went to the wrong track; Piet groups would guide them to the right path the divine religion of Islam set for Muslims.
 

Spkeaing in the headquarters of performing I'tikaf  rituals in holy city of Qom, Ayatollah Araki accentuated the importance of strengthening the standing ties in the society and underscored even, "those who take part in the I'tikaf rituals should not cut their relations with other members of the society."
 
Elsewhere in his remarks, the grand Ayatollah underscored the importance and influential role of Unity, urging Muslims to follow their Mohammad Prophet’s (PBUH) path; working in tandem so as to promote unity and rapprochement in the society.


It is worthwhile to note that General Secretary of the World Forum for Proximity of the Islamic Schools of Thought recently attended I'tikaf rituals held in Imam Hasan Askari (PBUH) Mosque in Qom and lead congregational prayer among worshipers who perform I`tikaf.
 
I`tikaf is a spiritual retreat in the mosque where a Muslim secludes for the purpose of purifying his or her heart. It is an Islamic practice consisting of a period of retreat in a mosque for a certain number of days in accordance with the believer's own wish

The ritual aims to get close to Allah by performing extra acts of worship, especially Tahajjud (optional night prayers) and reciting Qur’an. Those performing I`tikaf stay in the masjid for day and night and only went outside the masque for natural call.
