Head of Proximity Research center warned Muslim scholars not to be obsessed with provocative debates on satellite TV channels demanding Muslim clerics to maintain the logic of dialogue.

Hujjat-ol-Islam Ahmad Moballeghi, Iranian cleric and head of Proximity Research Center, in a meeting with elites, professors and outstanding figures from Lebanese universities said beefing up the disputes only leads to opening of tensions in society and interfaith cultures, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

“A battle of attrition neither leaves the potency for Islam nor any honor for Islamic denominations” said the cleric.

Head of the religious research center demanded Shia and Sunni for embracing logic of dialogue and said, “It is highly recommended that Muslim scholars leave over excited disputes, boosted and benefited by Wahhabis, and spread the culture of dialogue.”

He praised the culture of dialogue for its particular framework counting its capacities as a canon for regeneration of respect and Islamic-humane morality, reconstruction of ties and increasing knowledge as well as affection.

Head of Islamic Research Center of Iran’s Parliament warned Muslim scholars not to be taken in by provocative disputes waged by satellite channels.

“Shia and Sunni have to embrace a culture of exchange and scientific debates in the fields of knowledge and spread a culture of mutual respect and interaction in practical areas,” suggested the Shia cleric.

Hujjat-ol-Islam Moballeghi added, “Due to stimulating approaches of Wahhabism in Islamic relations, numerous caring scholars from both denominations are left to passive stances.”

Iranian top cleric proposed a conference to be held to discuss the capabilities of dialogue so that a logic of proximity, interaction and dialogue is followed.

He denounced prejudiced disagreements as the reason for irretrievable damage to Islamic community.

He also said the only way to handle the issues of Muslim world is to inject true proximity morale to Shia-Sunni ties.

“It should not be supposed that the outcomes of social and cultural troubles in either Shia or Sunni communities would merely be confined to that society, rather it will plague the other nation in the long run.” said the cleric.

He added, “Since Islamic nation has a common nature and are subject to the same plots and dangers, different Islamic denominations are unified for any disadvantage to the whole body of Islamic society.”
