Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Wednesday reiterated his country's rejection of any foreign military intervention in Syria.

Lavrov, remarks came during a press conference on the outcomes of Russia's Foreign policy in 2011, underlined Russia's insistence on the necessity of finding political settlement in Syria through an immediate launching of an internal national dialogue after violence, regardless of its source, is to be immediately halted.

Lavrov underscored Russia's support to the efforts exerted by the Arab League's observers mission in Syria.

He renewed Russia's criticism and rejection to the smuggling of weapons operations to Syria as to support the gunmen.
Minister Lavrov underscored Russia's rejection to the attempts being made as to create a humanitarian crisis in Syria, describing these attempts as "rejected and fruitless".

Lavrov said " there is a truth which none can deny represented in the smuggling of the weapons to the gunmen and to the extremists in Syria who tried to exploit the protest movement to achieve their goals to usurp power," lashing out at the so-called "aid convoys to Syria" with the aim of creating the impression of humanitarian catastrophe.

Lavrov considered the so-called aid convoys proposals to Syria which as completely rejected and fruitless because they lead but to intensifying the cycle of violence .

Minister Lavrov pointed out that the Russian draft resolution, currently presented to the UN Security Council, has gained China and the BRICS Countries' support, and it aims at achieving the aforementioned goals.

He underscored that it was absolutely unacceptable to spread the Libyan experience to other countries, calling for the non-interference in the internal affairs of the Middle East and North Africa. 

In the same context, Russia announced on Tuesday that its rejects sending Arab forces to Syria, asked by Qatar,  stressing that it will not support the sending any forces to Syria and that it will oppose this issue if it were proposed for discussion at the UN Security Council.

In a press conference, Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov voiced confidence that such a decision will not be made, expressing doubts that the Arab League has the right to send forces to Syria, as the League has no authority to do such a thing.

Gatilov said that he views the matter of sending foreign forces to Syria in a negative light, because such an act will not lead to anything good and certainly will not resolve the standing issues in Syria.
