Syria is qualified to adopt the proper stance

Patriarch of Antioch and All the East for Greek Orthodox Ignatius IV Hazim assured that Syria does not need to accept any position from any side and it is qualified to adopt the proper stance.

After meeting deputy prime minister Samir Mouqbel, Hazim commented on the unfolding developments and the Arab League sanctions on Syria.

Speaking to reporters, the patriarch hoped that Syria will see a better situation and overcome all its current problems.

Asked about the impact of economic sanctions on the Syrian people, Hazim explained that no one can stop people from eating and drinking and there are countries that do not know what's taking place one meter away from them.

Hazim said he was not worried about the fate of the Syrian people because this people are not counting on non necessary items.

Hazim denied reports that Archdiocese of Latakia was targeted by a bomb attack.

"Nothing of this sort took place and is not worth making an issue out of it," Hazim said.
