The Armenian government recently handed over four border villages in the "Kazakh" region on the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which were in dispute, to Baku.

These villages were under the control of Armenia for more than three decades.
This decision was taken at the 8th meeting of the intergovernmental commission to delimit the borders of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia, and Yerevan agreed to return four strategic villages to Baku.
At the same time, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that the Russian border guard forces stationed in the Tavush border region between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia will withdraw from this region following the ongoing process of delimiting the border between the two countries.
According to a bilateral agreement, Russian border guards have been stationed on the territory of Armenia behind the Tavush border since 2021.
