Iranian FM vows ‘definite response’ to Israel’s attack on Damascus consular building
Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks in a Monday meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Damascus, where he is on an official visit a week after an Israeli terrorist attack on the Consular Section of the Iranian Embassy in the Mezzeh neighborhood in Damascus.

He said the United States is directly responsible for Israel's crimes and acts of madness.

A senior commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force, Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, and his deputy General Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi were among the seven Iranian martyrs of the terrorist attack on April 1.

The Iranian foreign minister pointed to the latest developments in the war-ravaged Gaza Strip and said numerous intelligence reports show serious and unprecedented rifts among Israeli officials.

However, he added, the resistance front is in a very good situation and stands ready to continue its battle against Israel's atrocities.

Given Israel's brutal war crimes in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank and the continuation of their siege, the oppressed Palestinian people are in dire need of measures by the international community to alleviate their sufferings, the Iranian minister emphasized.

Assad, for his part, said both Iran and Syria have a common stance on the fight against terrorism and added that if the resistance front strives to become stronger, it will be a punishment for Israel.

He emphasized that Israel's attacks on Syria will not help the regime compensate its defeats.

The Syrian president said economic and humanitarian support for the Palestinian people is a human, Islamic, Arab and international responsibility.

Heading a politico-parliamentary delegation, Amir-Abdollahian arrived in Damascus on Monday on the second leg of his regional tour.
