Intl. intra-religion Islamic conference opens in Mecca

Organized by Muslim World League, the international conference entitled “Building Bridges between Islamic Schools of Thoughts and Sects” has opened in the holy city of Mecca with prominent Muslim scholars in attendance.

Muhammad bin Abdul Karim Issa, the Secretary General of the Muslim World League, in his opening speech announced the organization’s decision to issue a framework  to build a bridge of fraternity and cooperation among Islamic denominations for the Islamic ummah to confront challenges, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
The two-day international conference on “Building Bridges between Islamic Schools of Thought and Sects” is held during the holy month of Ramadan on March 20-21.
 
Al-Issa noted that the event, participated by prominent scholars from across the globe, stresses that the Islamic nation is in its best possible situation and the elite scholars are the key Sharia role models.
 
He stressed that the diversity of denominations demands them to understand diversity of beliefs and several differences.
 
The prominent scholar reiterated that the different faiths are in demand of a commonality to unify them stressing that the clearest commonality are Shahada (profession of faith) and other Islamic principles.
 
The Secretary General of the World Muslim League emphasized that despite differences, Muslims gather under the umbrella of Islam and there is no space for marginal issues that might trigger disagreement among them.
 
According to al-Issa, sectarian slogans that might lead to sectarian rifts, are on top of the predicaments in the Islamic nation.
 
He urged the commitment of the Muslim world media to promote proximity dialogues based on Islamic fraternity values.
 
Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in this ceremony reiterated that the international conference will elaborate on proximity of Islamic denominations.
 
A number of lecturers including Iran’s Ayatollah Ahmad Moballeghi, member of the Assembly of Experts, Mohammad Mukhtar Juma, Egypt’s Minister of Endowments and Sheikh Fadlullah al-Rahman bin Mufti Mahmud, head of the Society of Muslim Ulima from Pakistan delivered speech at the opening ceremony of the conference.
 
Also, on the sideline of the conference an agreement was signed between the Muslim World League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to implement the resolutions by the conference.
