Bahar Akhavan, representative of the Institute for Protection of Women’s Rights, has expressed regret over the death of more than 8,000 women during over five months of Israel’s genocidal war against Gaza, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

Speaking at the 21st edition of the webinars on operation al-Aqsa Storm entitled “Achievements of Resistance front after Operation al-Aqsa Storm”, Bahar Akhavan detailed the role of Palestinian women in resistance.

She hailed the resistance of the Palestinian women during the past 75 years of occupation of Palestine and said,” While the main challenge for women in the world is to gain freedom and gender equality, the main struggle for Palestinian women is to end the occupation of their homeland and expelling Israeli occupation forces.”

She lauded the Palestinian women for promoting the school of resistance, participation in protests, participating the international conferences on women’s rights and active role in promoting the issue of Palestine on social media platforms.

Iranian elite and member of the Institute for Protection of Women’s Rights explained her views at the 21st edition of the online meetings held by Iran’s World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought.

The Institute for Protection of Women’s Rights has been in consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council since 2019.
