“Palestinian women’s activism intertwined with resistance”

An Iranian researcher on women and family studies said the concept of homeland and resistance in view of Palestinian women are intertwined with their activism.
“Palestinian women’s activism intertwined with resistance”
Zahra Osati, International deputy of Goharshad International Foundation, speaking at the 21st edition of the webinars on operation al-Aqsa Storm, entitled ‘Achievements of Resistance Front after Al-Aqsa Storm’ lauded the resilience and activism of Palestinian women during 75 years of occupation of their lands by Israeli regime, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

She referred to the multifaceted challenges faced by the Palestinian women amid the ongoing conflict with Israeli regime and hailed the resilience of the Palestinian women in face of adversities.

She said,” The concepts of homeland, nationalism and resistance must be read together with women's activism.”

Zahra Osati noted the determination, will power and psychological struggle of the Palestinian women to maintain their domestic role since the beginning of Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip on October 7.

“Palestinian women's activism is deeply intertwined with nationalism, resistance, and the fight for freedom” said the Iranian elite and added,” All of these, challenging Western notions of feminism.”

The sacrifices they make for their homeland highlight the complexities of their activism and it is against the Western feminist analysis.

She added that a mainstream narration of the western media views the huge number of dead bodies of women and children in Gaza as a cliché of “women and children as victim”.

According to the Iranian researcher, despite their resilience and activism, Palestinian women remain largely invisible in mainstream discourse, that has been overshadowed by biased narratives.

Zahra Osati, International deputy of Goharshad International Foundation made the comments at the 21st webinar of the al-Aqsa Storm held by Iran’s World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought on Sunday.
