Yemen joins campaign to boycott Swedish products following Qur’an desecration

The Minister of Industry and Trade, Muhammad Sharaf al-Mutahar, announced that Swedish products are boycotted following the remarks by Ansarullah leader Abdul Malik Badreddin al-Houthi who urged for measures to defend the Islamic sanctities, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

Top official reiterated that the ministry will continue boycott of countries that target Islam and Muslims and regard that a reaction to western terrorism targeting Islamic sanctities.

This is while Abdul Malik al-Houthi said the least response to the recent Qur’an burning is to sever diplomatic ties and announcement of economic boycott against Sweden.

Muslim users of social media across the world have launched a campaign and called for boycotting Swedish products in protest against the recent desecration of the Holy Quran which was authorized by the Swedish court and was done under police protection.

This campaign was launched following the statement of Egypt’s Al-Azhar University, which had called for boycotting Swedish products in protest against the recent desecration of the Holy Quran.

The reactions pour after an Iraqi-descent young man tore pages of the holy book of Islam and set it on fire in a provocative move in front of a major mosque in the capital Stockholm.

The sacrilege has sparked anger protests across the globe as Muslim people demand their governments to sever relations with Stockholm.
