Syriac Orthodox bishop of Mount Lebanon and Tripoli, Theophilus George Saliba met with Abbas Khameyar, Iran's cultural attaché, on the eve of the New Year 2022 hailing the Islamic Republic for its support for followers of monotheistic religions and called Iran a role model of counter-oppression and coexistence among different religions, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
The two sides discussed cultural issues and interfaith dialogue stressing necessity of developing mutual cooperation in line with boosting dialogue and solidarity as well as foiling intrigues hatched by enemies.
 
George Saliba praised the supportive stance of Islamic Republic of Iran for the oppressed nations across the globe.
 
Lebanese- American professor of Arabic and Islamic Science said," Supporting the oppressed nations and maintaining friendly behavior with followers of different religions, Iran has set a proper example of counter-oppression and friendly coexistence with all monotheistic religions."
 
He added," To expand relations between followers of different religions plays a key role in reviving constructive dialogue in all societies."
 
Iran's cultural attaché offered congratulations on the eve of Christmas and the New Year 2022 to the Syriac Orthodox bishop of Mount Lebanon and Tripoli and announced preparation of the department at Iran's embassy for compilation of the works on Ahlul Bayt (AS) by the Christian bishop.
 
Abbad Khameyar presented George Saliba with one of the oldest versions of the Old Testament in Syriac language.
