“Ayatollah Taskhiri, defender of Muslim unity”, Iraqi ex-PM
Top Iraqi official has issued a condolence message expressing sympathy over passing of prominent Iranian cleric and former secretary general of World Forum for Proximity of Isalmic Schools of Thought, Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri.

Former Iraqi prime minister Adel Abdul Mahdi in a condolence message issued on Friday hailed late Ayatollah Taskiri for several scientific and ideological achievments, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
He referred to struggles of the late Iranian cleric with former Iraqi Ba’ath regime during his life in the Arab country and hailed the scholar for fulfilling several responsibilities during the time.
Adel Abdul Mahdi highlighted the endeavors by Ayatollah Taskhiri to organize international conferences and active participation in global events.
“Ayatollah Taskhiri was the expressive voice of Islamic proximity and a defender of Islamic unity” said the former Iraqi premier and offered condolences over demise of top Iranian figure.
Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri, aged 76, passed away on Tuesday due to heart disease. He had served in different political and religious positions.
He was widely known due to his struggles to promote solidarity among differetn Islamic denominations as he led the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought for years.
