Hujjat al-Islam Mostafa Mahami, the imam of Friday prayers in the province's capital Zahedan, made the statement in a meeting with organizers of hajj caravans, IRNA reported.
This year's hajj was canceled earlier this month by Saudi Arabia, citing coronavirus concerns.
Only 1,000 of Muslims residing in Saudi Arabia will be able to attend the event, according to the government's announcement.
This year, a total of 87,500 Iranian pilgrims were to go to the annual pilgrimage, while the number of 2019 Iranian pilgrims stood at 86,500.
Hajj is a pilgrimage to Mecca that every able-bodied and financially able Muslim is obliged to undertake at least once during their lifetime. AH
